Wardens will have to stick to fines

A scheme which allowed parking attendants to help people in need has been abandoned by Shepway District Council after a row concerning equipment.

The anti-crime initiative gave wardens from the SDC to give their support concerning cases of lost children, unruly behaviour and littering. They used mobile phones and radios provided by parking enforcement organisation NSL. These have been deemed as not fit for purpose.

According to the Herald, Folkestone town centre manager John Barber has criticised the decision. He said: “This is a dreadful loss to the council’s aim/mission of being a safe and clean district”.
