Gurkha awarded for his bravery



A Folkestone based Gurkha has been honoured in a national awards for his heroism.

Corporal Baljit Limbu was injured in an explosion in Afghanistan which knocked him unconscious.

When the 32-year-old came round he dragged a colleague who had severe back injuries to safety despite his own blast wounds to his arm and neck and partial deafness.

The Gurkha soldier was awarded the ‘Mentioned in Dispatches’ one of the oldest forms of gallantry for his bravery in Afghanistan.
