More art in Folkestone – 05/05/11

The Creative Foundation has announced plans for more art projects in Folkestone.

A funding stream is being produced to encourage a growth of art projects over the next three years. The fund, set up by the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, will support community groups in developing new art events and activities.

The foundation wants this to benefit the community as a whole and say plans must add to the enjoyment of everyone in Folkestone.

Trevor Minter, from The Creative Foundation, said: “We hope that organisers will come forward with ideas that compliment those of the Creative Foundation, which will contribute to the enjoyment of people who live and work in Folkestone and that will help in particular to animate the old town and harbour area.”

Up to £100,000 will be available for successful applicants over a three year period. The Foundation hope that during this time they can support around 50 projects.
