Folkestone will be celebrating the Olympic Games in style next year.
A grand festival, being called the ‘festival of festivals’ is being planned by Folkestone Town Centre Management. They are inviting local businesses and community organisations to get involved and help present the event, which is to last three months.
The festival will include annual attractions such as the Multi-Cultural and Harbour festivals as well as a number of small offerings. Town centre manager John Barber said: “Folkestone hosts hundreds of events, large and small, during the summer months. Our idea is to raise the town’s visibility by promoting them under one label.”
The FTCM believe the festival will make Folkestone more marketable in terms of becoming a leisure, recreation and shopping destination.
The 2012 festival is to include local and nationwide celebrations such as the Olympics and the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
