Shepway District Council has received an application to remove a disused track at Folkestone’s Leas Lift.
Contractors have submitted the plans amid safety fears over the redundant second track, which was built in 1890.
According to This is Kent the move is thought to be an attempt to stop the historic site being claimed by nature. The plans will be discussed later this month.
