Cabbie guilty of smoking in taxi

A Folkestone taxi driver has been found guilty of smoking in his cab.

Steve Holewell was caught smoking by a council officer in July last year but chose to go to court instead of paying a fixed penalty fine.

The taxi driver was found guilty by Folkestone Magistrates and fined £100, with £500 costs and a victim surcharge of 15.

Smoking in a taxi is illegal, as a taxi is classed as being a public place.
