A map showing proposed parking meter sites in Shepway has been released.
The map was sent to the local labour party ahead of the official launch in June.
Areas include popular tourist destination, the leas, Lower Sandgate Road and the Bayle, with resident permit bays replacing free parking in several other streets.
Peter Wallace, secretary of Folkestone and Hythe labour party, expressed his concern for Folkestone residents and businesses.
He said: “It sends out a message that Shepway is closed for business and our council doesn’t want people to come here.
We’re worried that this will have a major effect on our town”.
