The National Memorial to the Few is set to stage what it believes will be the most inspirational beacon-lighting ceremony in the country. The Capel-le-Ferne site will welcome Commander Bob Foster DFC AE, a veteran Hurricane pilot who flew in the battle of Britain and life vice-president of the Trust. He will light the beacon as part of the chain that will encircle the country on the evening of Monday 4 June, at around 10 to 10.30. Members of the public are welcome at the historic event, which is organised in conjunction with the parish council, and should aim to arrive by 10 to 10.
The Trust is also expecting plenty if visitors on the day of the Folkestone Jubilee Airshow, which takes place on June 2. The cliff-top site of Capel-le-Ferne will offer a great view of the aircrafts and allow spectators to avoid the crowds on the Leas.
