105.9 Academy FM - Folkestone's Community Station

105.9 Academy FM is the Community Radio station for the Folkestone area. What we do is unique. And we've won FIVE national Community Radio Awards 2016 - 2 gold, 2 silver & 1 bronze!

We are based in the Folkestone Academy school, and broadcast to the local area on 105.9 FM and online. We have a small team of staff and a large group of volunteers, many of whom present on the radio. We do a lot of work with young people - they are trained in radio production and along the way learn self-confidence, team-working and communication skills. We regularly put children as young as 12 on the radio.

Our programmes are interesting, funny, and local. We broadcast a vibrant mix of chart hits and classic tunes, as well as up to the minute local news and interviews. Because we’re a Community Station we’re proud to play music made right here in Kent, every hour, every day.
