AGE UK – April 2012
If you’re over the age of 65, and need assistance and financial support, who do you turn to for advice and information? There are a variety of charities offering assistance, such as Age UK which helps people in Folkestone claim thousands of pounds worth in benefits they are entitled to.
Academy FM’s Sarah Carre went to their centre, to find out how they help the elderly, and about their work in raising awareness of the benefits available.
Parking in Shepway – April 2012
Recently, Shepway District Council finished a consultation on parking in the district. This consultation has provoked a heated debate on how on-street and off-street parking should be managed, and if any changes are required at all.
Sarah Carre spoke to people on both sides of the proposals to find out exactly what the consultation means for Folkestone and how any changes could affect local people and businesses.
LGBT Gallery with Vince Laws
A gallery in Folkestone have welcomed an artist, poet and campaigner to exhibit his work in honour of a celebrated month in the town. Sarah Carre went along to the Old High Street to meet him.
Portas Pilot Scheme
Town’s accross the country have applied for a share of a £1 million pound grant and Folkestone is one of them. Sarah Carre spoke to the people involved to find out what the grant is and why Folkestone have applied.
