CALLING ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES, CHARITIES, AND VENUES!

Your Weekend Matters is Academy FM's newest local Saturday Breakfast show that focuses on matters in the Folkestone area. It's different from any Breakfast show as the main focus is to promote and inform, as well as entertain.

The program is split into three one hour sections, with the first hour focusing on local matters that listeners email in to studio@academyfmfolkestone.com, or through our WhatsApp. The second hour focuses on job opportunities in the area. In the past, we have had businesses on the show to promote their job openings and expereinces in their role. Finally, the third hour features local events. In previous programs, we have featured events and interviews with acts from The Leas Cliff Hall, and featured events held at the Folkestone Quarterhouse, The Tower Theatre, Silver Screen Cinema, and Folkestone Music.

To promote your matters, job opportunites, local events, or just anything going on, email ross.hoare@academyfmfolkestone.com and Ross will get back to you on booking an interview.

Most interviews will be booked for Thursdays, unless specified otherwise.

About Academy FM

105.9 Academy FM is the Community Radio station for the Folkestone area, and an educational charity. We are unique and won School Radio Station of the Year and BBC Sounds Rising Talent Awards at the Young Audio Awards. We've also won national Community Radio Awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018 for our broadcasting and educational work.
We are based in the Folkestone Academy school, and broadcast to the local area on 105.9 FM and online. We have a small team of staff and a large group of volunteers. Our charitable educational work is mainly with young people - they are trained in radio production and along the way learn self-confidence and communication skills, and we run projects on literacy, science, the arts, heritage and many more subjects. We broadcast a vibrant mix of chart hits and classic tunes, and many interviews.
